He was a member of New Union Baptist Church in Hamilton County where he served as pastor for 35 years.
He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 81, a retired accountant at Lippard Oil Co., and was a gentleman farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rando Tinsley and Willie May Jeffers Tinsley; and brother, Randall Tinsley.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Emma Lou Davis Tinsley of Cleveland; daughter, Jennifer Tinsley Bradshaw and her husband, Robert, of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Dwight Tinsley and his wife, Lisa, of Cleveland; three grandchildren: David Roberson of Billings, Mont., Dennis Roberson and his wife, Megan, of Chattanooga and Amanda Valleroy and her husband, Joseph, of Savannah, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren: Hannah Roberson, Carter Roberson, Mason Roberson, Mia Roberson, Samuel Valleroy, Jakob Valleroy and Asher Valleroy; sisters: Laura Jean Hysinger and her husband, Kenneth, of Cleveland and Judy DeLude of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. today, July 18, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Hooker officiating.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dennis Roberson, Joseph Valleroy, Lebron Hysinger, Keith Rominger, Alan Rominger and Gary Rominger serving as pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
