BECU has asked its members to nominate their favorite nonprofit helping people in the counties eligible for BECU membership: Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk.
GODSPOT is the second winner of 2012. The GODSPOT Block Party happens in Decatur each year on Halloween night.
“The children of Meigs County and surrounding areas are given a fun filled alternative to Trick or Treating,” writes Sewell.
The Block Party is free and offers food, drinks, candy, and entertainment for children and adults. Each year an alternative to a Haunted House, called the “Reality House,” relates to the everyday pressures that children endure. The 2012 focus is expected to be “Bullying.”
To find out more, or to make your own donation to the GODSPOT Block Party, contact Edna Sewell at 423-336-5190. Donations can be mailed to GODSPOT, 1930 Shiloh Road, Decatur, TN 37322.
Any member of BECU can nominate their favorite nonprofit for a $1,000 Pay It Forward prize. Three more prizes will be given out in 2012. The deadline to be considered for the third prize is Aug. 31.
BECU began the Pay It Forward program in 2010 as a way to give back to the community it serves. Since the program’s inception, BECU has given $10,000 to various charities making a difference in our community. For more information, visit www.bowaterecu.org and look under the “News & Info” tab.
