Fair pageant deadlines extended

The Foothills Country Fair is set to begin on Thursdays with the selection of The Fairest of the Fair.

Nancy Alford, a coordinator, announced Saturday that the deadline for pageant applications has been extended. The applications must been received by Wednesday.

Girls from 5 to 20 will vie for the titles of Fairest of the Fair, Junior Fairest of the Fair, Fair Princess, Little Miss and Wee Miss. The pageants will be held on Thursday evening on the Pavilion Stage at the Tri-State Exhibition Center.

The Fairest of the Fair contest is for girls ages 16 to 20. The Junior Fairest of the Fair is for ages 13 to 15.

The Wee Miss, girls ages 5 and 6, will compete in either long or short dress at 6 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., Little Miss girls, ages 7, 8 and 9, will be competing in either short or long dress. The Fair Princess, ages 10, 11 and 12, competes at 7 p.m.

Junior Fairest of the Fair and The Fairest of the Fair follow at 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

Preregistration is required. Applications and information is available at www.foothillscountry fair.webs.com., Baby Place, Dressy Affair and Ever After Bridal. The registration fee is $15.

The registration deadline for the Baby pageants have also been extended.

Those applications must be in by Thursday.

The Baby Pageants are for ages newborn to 4 of boys and girls. The competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28. Preregistation is required. No entries will be accepted the day of the pageant.

The baby contestants should be dressed in age-appropriate Sunday best — no pageant attire.

The competitions are Infant Miss, 0-11 months; Baby Miss, 12-23 months; Tiny Tot Miss, 24 to 35 months; Tot Miss, 3 to 4 years; Baby Prince, 0 to 2 years; and Tot Prince, 3 to 4 years.

Gates open at 10 a.m. and the contest begins at 10:30 a.m. A contestant and one chaperone will be admitted free to the fair. Contestants should arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in.
