The talent competition was sponsored by The Pilot Club of Athens under the direction of Pam Breedwell. The mistress of ceremonies was gospel recording artist from Nashville, Carla Jo Carr, a recipient of several Dove Awards.
A special guest performance was given from American Idol finalist and Tennessee native Vanessa Wolfe of Decatur as well as Miss Tennessee United States Ashley Ingram. Contestants ranging in age from 7 to 28 competed in three age divisions.
The competition featured singers, dancers and musicians from the Southeast Tennessee counties of Bradley, Hamilton, McMinn, Monroe, Loudon, Knox, Greene, Rhea and Roane. There was a Top 3 in each age division.
CDPAC dancers receiving the top three awards were:
— Shelbee Jordan, who placed third in the 7-to-12 age division with her Lyrical dance, “Sweet Dreams.”
— Lexi Valliere, who placed second in the 7-to-12 age division with her Lyrical dance, “I’m In Here.”
— Danielle Farrell, who placed third in the 13-to-18 age division with her Hip Hop dance, “To Fly.”
— Caitlyn Lynn who placed third in the 19-to-28 age division with her Jazz dance, “It Will Rain.”
CDPAC’s 2012-2013 open house and registration is Aug. 7 from 2 to 8 p.m. Registration continues Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., and Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 2012-13 Avant Garde Company auditions will be held Aug. 11 beginning at 10 a.m.
