Lois Dean Parks, 74, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Chattanooga, after an extended illness.

She was a long-time member of the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church.

She was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Cleveland to the late Edgar “Ed” Johnson and Prudy “McCarver” Johnson.

She attended public school in Cleveland, and graduated with a high school diploma. She went on to become a licensed beautician. She worked at Buster Brown; REA Express; Roy DeSota Co.; Coca-Cola Bottling Co.; the Hamilton County Health Department; and subsequently retired to perform private home health care services.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar “Ed” Johnson, who lived to be 101; a niece, Crystal Stovall-Kinamore; and a brother, Willie G. Terry.

Survivors include sons: Marshall (Louise) Parks and Carlton Parks, both of Chattanooga; daughter, Detra S. Parks of Lithonia, Ga.; four grandchildren: Crystal Parks, Tiffanie Parks, Marshall Parks Jr. and Kristian Parks, all of Chattanooga; two great-grandchildren: Jordan Parks and Malachi Parks; sisters: Loretta (Fred) Campbell and Alice Turner, both of Cleveland; brothers: James E. Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., William E. Johnson of Minneapolis and Richard A. Johnson of Cleveland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and loved ones.

The funeral will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, 1734 E. 3rd St., Chattanooga TN 37404, with the Rev. Dr. Harold K. Lester officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery with a dove release.

The body will lie in repose Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, at Patton Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday, 6 to 7 p.m., at the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. The family will also receive friends Monday, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, at the church prior to the service.
