TEL is a virtual library that you can access from your home PC, your school library computer lab, or your iPhone — anywhere with an Internet connection. TEL provides access to over 400,000 electronic resources, including magazines, scholarly journals, podcasts, videos, e-books, test preparation materials, federal census records, Tennessee primary source materials, and more!
All types of not-for-profit libraries participate in TEL and benefit from the wide range of information TEL databases offer, including homework help to new readers, consumer health information, business resources, leisure reading suggestions, current event essays, academic and civil service test preparation help, and genealogy and family history sources. Moe than 1.2 million searches are performed each month across the various TEL databases. The Adult Summer Reading Program is coming to an end Aug. 15. Turn in your reading logs to be eligible for some wonderful prizes for participating.
The last Book Club for the summer will be held Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. Nikki Branam will lead a discussion on “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. Read. Come discuss the book that inspired the hit movie.
On Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 25 at 11 a.m., “Jump Into Kindergarten” will be held for incoming kindergarteners and their parents to tour the library, have a special storytime and discuss getting their own library card. Call the Children’s Desk for more information.
