The Friends of the Library Association will be hosting its Book and Coffee Series Aug. 17 with Chattanooga author Victoria Thurman discussing her first novel, “The Dating Dilemmas of Delilah Dunnfield.” This review will be held at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. The public is invited to this free event.

This hilarious novel is based on the author’s real life experiences of dealing with the old wisdom that “all the good ones are gone by the time you reach 25.” She has eight months to pursue this idea of finding Mr. Right. Thurman was born in Austin, Texas, to a mother from New England and a father from the South. She grew up in Americus, Ga., and now resides in Chattanooga with her cat, Mr. Bell.

There will be a library tour on Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. beginning in the lobby for those interested in seeing the behind-the-scene places and learning the history of the library. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.

Tweens Zone Book Chatter meets Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. for the first discussion of the new school year with the book, “Bink and Collie” by Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee. Come join in on the discussion of these adventurous characters.

On Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. “Jump into Kindergarten” will be held for incoming kindergarteners and their parents to tour the library, have a special Story Time and discuss getting their own library card. Call the Children’s Desk for more information.

Having trouble accessing the library’s free digital library collection? On Aug. 17, there will be a workshop from noon to 2 p.m. for those with Android devices to learn how to download free e-books. There are only 12 spots, so call today to reserve your seat for this workshop. Be sure to bring your device with you to the workshop.
