He was the son of the late C.B. and Rose Partin Jones, and was born on June 13, 1932, in Knox County.
He was an automobile dealer and the former owner of Jones Motor Sales in Barbourville.
He was a member of the Parkway Church of God and enjoyed his family and the automobile business. He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.
On Jan. 31, 1954, he united in marriage with Claudia Burnett in Barbourville and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Ray Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Jones, of Corbin; three children: Teddie Bennett and husband, Donald, and Shirley Garmon and husband, Fred, all of Cleveland and Michael Jones and wife, Kim, of Corbin; two sisters: Nell Smith of Detroit and Lola Akins and husband, Harvell, of Troy, Mich.; two brothers: David Jones and wife, Deloris, of Florence and Paul Jones and wife, Lois, of Strongville, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Rachel Hicks and husband, Edward, Dr. Sarah Colonna and husband, Dr. Alexander Colonna, Abigail Fletcher, Marissa Bunch and husband, Kevin, Whitney Meyer and husband, Nathan, Zachery Jones and wife, Krystal, and Spencer Jones; nine great-grandchildren: Fletcher, Winston, Harper and Jones Hicks, Gabriel and Claudia Colonna, Ella and Marley Bunch and Charli Grace Jones, among other loved ones and dear friends.
The funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in the chapel of Knox Funeral Home in Barbourville with the Revs. Dr. Fred Garmon and Dr. Donald Bennett officiating.
He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery with military funeral honors.
Casket bearers will be Edward Hicks, Alexander Colonna, Kevin Bunch, Nathan Meyer, Zachery Jones and Spencer Jones.
