Lake Forest Middle School campus was the setting for an eighth-grade seminar on the evening of Aug. 14. More than 250 eighth-grade students and parents attended this meeting. The event began with dinner provided from Jordan’s Bar-be-que, followed by three informative sessions. The first session gave information about the upcoming Explore Test, which is given to all eighth-graders, and was led by Melissa Presswood and Cana Kinder. The second session, led by Arlette Robinson, focused on Career Tech classes offered at Bradley High school and why it is important for eighth-grade students to be planning toward those interests now. Karen Winters offered tips on “How to Help Your Child Be Successful.” The evening closed with door prizes. Bradley County College Access sponsored the evening. Lorri Wickam, coordinator, said, “We are really pleased with the response from students and parents at this first-ever event. Parents and students went away with some great information and we look forward to making next year’s seminar even better.”
