William “Bill” Lewis Noel Jr., 83, a resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his home.

He had lived in Cleveland since 1996 and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and ball room dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Pearl Noel.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Noel of Cleveland; stepchildren: Sam Lloyd Bourne of Jackson, Miss., and Laura Diane Grieves of Tampa, Fla.; brothers: Al Noel (Etta) of Cleveland, Harvey Noel (Larue) of Ruther Glen, Va., Herbert Noel (Teresa) of Richmond, Va.; and sisters: Edith Hinson (Dave) of Whitestone, Va., Lillie Brinklow (Bobby) and Rosa Lee Young (Bob) all of Richmond, Va.

The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Father Joel Huffstetler officiating.

Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
