Unity Center was full of smiles and activity on Aug. 18 as nearly 300 people gathered for a healthy and hearty breakfast and registration for the FUTURE After School Program.

In addition, school supplies, health kits and clothing were given out.

Broad Street United Methodist Church began this ministry in East Cleveland 12 years ago.

Through the years it has grown into a four-day per week after-school program with an average of 60 to 70 students.

The program operates Monday through Thursday, 3 to 5:30 p.m and offers homework assistance, music lessons, life and art enrichment experiences, a youth leadership program and a loving and caring Christian community.

Local churches and Lee University are wonderful sources for quality tutors in the program.

The opening schedule this fall will include Tutor Training on Sept. 4 (if you are interested, contact 478-1661 or unityctr@bellsouth.net); Youth Leader Training on Sept. 6; and the first day on Sept. 13.
