In addition, school supplies, health kits and clothing were given out.
Broad Street United Methodist Church began this ministry in East Cleveland 12 years ago.
Through the years it has grown into a four-day per week after-school program with an average of 60 to 70 students.
The program operates Monday through Thursday, 3 to 5:30 p.m and offers homework assistance, music lessons, life and art enrichment experiences, a youth leadership program and a loving and caring Christian community.
Local churches and Lee University are wonderful sources for quality tutors in the program.
The opening schedule this fall will include Tutor Training on Sept. 4 (if you are interested, contact 478-1661 or firstname.lastname@example.org); Youth Leader Training on Sept. 6; and the first day on Sept. 13.
