Two people were injured on South Lee Highway Friday, just after 8 p.m., after the motorcycle they were riding crashed.

Randy and Melody Cooley were heading south in the 1700 block of South Lee Highway, when Randy Cooley attempted to avoid collision with another vehicle, according to Evie West of the Cleveland Police Department.

Stan Clark of Bradley County Emergency Medical Service said first responders rushed to the scene, where they found the couple had been ejected from their motorcycle.

Clark said Melody Cooley had injuries that required transport to a level one trauma center. BCEMS paramedics requested air medical and LifeForce Helicopter landed on the scene to transport her to Erlanger Medical Center.

Cleveland Fire Department personnel also assisted BCEMS at the scene.

Randy Cooley was taken by ambulance to SkyRidge Medical Center, where he was reportedly in stable condition, according to Clark.

Clark also said Melody Cooley was listed in serious condition.

CPD officer Brett Taylor is in charge of the crash investigation.

A secondary crash reportedly occurred while traffic in the area was slowed. No details were available regarding that crash.
