Lovenia Carroll, 71, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in a local hospital.

She was a member of the Berean Independent Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, and doing good for the sick and for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Olive Self; and one brother, Verlin Self.

Survivors include her spouse, Gale Carroll; one son, Michael Carroll; and one grandchild, Devin Carroll, all of Old Fort; two sisters: Reba Guthrie and husband, Frank, of Cleveland and Mildred Pannell and husband, Steve, of Pontotoc, Miss.; one brother, J.L. Self and wife, Edna, of Maryville; sister-in-law, Donna Self, of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Wagner officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens concluding with a white dove release ceremony.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
