Cleveland Police detectives took a man into custody, who was wanted in connection with the theft of computer learning equipment taken from a local school last week.

He was arrested just before 8 this morning.

The Banner reported last week that two i-Pads and two Acer laptop computers were taken from Blythe-Bower Elementary School.

Video security cameras showed a man walk into a classroom and exit.

Richard Allen Lord, 27, an employee of the school, was arrested and charged with theft over $1,000, according to Detective Matt Jenkins and Lt. Robert Harbison of the Cleveland Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.

A warrant for his arrest had been issued late Thursday after detectives observed Lord on the video.

Detectives allege Lord entered the classroom while working as a janitor.

According to an affidavit filed by Jenkins, Lord “brought a rolling trash can into each of the rooms. The video shows Ford walk all the way around the school to his vehicle from the dumpster area.”

School Resource Officer April Ratcliff stated to Jenkins “the actions were completely different than his normal cleaning routines.”

Jenkins said officers arrested Lord at a Blythe Avenue address this morning.

He was taken to the Bradley County Jail where he was booked on the charge.

- A Rhondale Avenue woman reported the theft of a Sony digital camera.

According to a report filed by deputy Daniel Watson of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Melony Jones said someone had taken her pink Sony Cybershot camera from a bedroom inside her home.

The report didn’t indicate when the theft may have occurred. The camera was valued at $200.

- A BCSO deputy also filed a report for a woman who said someone vandalized her car while it was parked at her workplace.

According to a report filed by deputy Doug Graham, Faye Fowler had parked her car at the 6th Street address and when she returned later, someone had broken the driver’s side window.

A damage estimate was not listed in the report.
