Lois Geneva “Granny” McKinney, 88, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 9, 2012, in a local hospital.

“Granny,” as she was affectionately called, was the daughter of the late Dora Duggan Dill and Will Dill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dora McKinney; sisters: Edna Lawson and Emma Taylor; and brothers: Harvey, Ray, Clifford and Dub Dill.

She was a well-known poultry farmer and enjoyed working on her farm. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She attended the Church of God.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Shannon, of Old Fort; granddaughters: Eileen Long and her husband, Jerry, and Marleen Hamilton and her husband, Greg; her great-grandsons: Mitchell Long and Dylan Hamilton, all of Old Fort; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Grady Simpson and Frank Ellis officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Friendship Cemetery with Ronnie Dill, Greg Hamilton, Mitchell Long, Jerry Long, Jerry Mason and Gary Nelson officiating.

A dove release will conclude the services.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
