Both the Wildcats and Hurricanes put together a four-player total of 156 on the course’s front nine, forcing No. 1 players Evan Ball of Polk and Christian Silvers of East Hamilton to return to the links for some extra play. Silvers was able to defeat Ball on the first playoff hole for the team victory.
Ball was the day’s low-medalist, firing ad even-par 36 on the Wildcats’ home course, while Silvers was just a stroke back at 37.
Polk County also got a trio of 40s from seniors Cameron Bean and Jakes Burrows, plus sophomore Michael Rongey for its 156 tally.
East Hamilton (7-4) posted a 39 from Matt Wilson, plus 40s from Tucker Venable and Ian Newman to match the hosts in regulation.
Collegedale Academy also participated, shooting a 175.
Brady Tull led the Eagles with a 3-over 39, while Thomas Hayes shot a 44 and Skylor Black added a 47. Max McKenzie rounded out the team score with a 52.
Polk County will return to Chatata Valley on Monday to host another district three-way match with Sequoyah and Silverdale Baptist Academy coming to town for a 4:30 tee time.
