Paul D. Odom, 80, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Thursday evening Sept. 13, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was the son of the late Plaskey and Ethel Odom. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Odom; and a sister, Ester Mae Horn.

He was retired from Maytag with over 27 years of service, after his retirement he worked for the Bradley county school system as a custodian at Waterville and East Cleveland Elementary Schools.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and farmer and a life time member of the NRA. He was a founding member of the Cleveland Hunting, Rifle and Pistol Club and was recently awarded a life time membership to the club.

He was a member of the Bradley Central High School graduating class of 1952 and was a member of the Chestuee United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Retha Odom; one son, Mark Odom of Cleveland; a niece, Altha Ruth Harris of Harrison; and a host of friends.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Betsy Switzer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chestuee Cemetery with Sonny Howard, Jeff Stacy, Lee Ross, Don Haney, Albert Howard and Mack Ross serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Giles, Lester Williams, Kenneth Williams and Mack Williams.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
