Sherden B. Cloer, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his home.
He was a member of Farmland Community Church where he served as deacon and was on the board of directors.
He was a member of the USS Mt. McKinley Association and Chattanooga Ironworkers Local No.704. He worked with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Training Program and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lola Cheek Cloer; a sister, Etta Faye Sawyer, and brother, Paul Cloer.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Callahan Cloer, of Cleveland; daughter, Trena Pendergrass and her husband, Dale, of Georgetown; grandchildren: Corey Pendergrass and his wife, Nicole, of Harrison and Aimee Harrod and her husband, Michael, of Cleveland; great-great-grandchildren: Tucker, Jaxon and Nolan Harrod and Brianna Pendergrass; a brother, James Cloer and wife, Connie, of Jacksonville, Fla.; half-brothers, Stan Martin and Bobby Martin; a half-sister, Anna Jean O’Neil, all of Athens; nieces: Debbie Tanner of Chattanooga and Jennie Brantley of Jacksonville, Fla.; and nephew, Jerry Cloer of Jacksonville.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. today, Sept. 17, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Hammonds officiating.
Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Corey Pendergrass, Michael Harrod and members of the board of directors from Farmland Community Church will serve as pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home prior to the service.
