Marilyn Francis Nelson McCraw went to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept, 16, 2012, after an extended illness.

She was born in Chatsworth, Ga., in 1935 and graduated from Murray County High school.

She moved to Cleveland with her husband Johnny (Jay) in 1935, soon after their marriage. They were residents of Cleveland for more than 55 years and were involved in the community.

She graduated from beauty school in the 1960s and worked as a cosmetologist and beautician for more than 20 years in the Cleveland community before opening her own private business. She loved people and enjoyed working with her clients and ministering each week.

She was a woman of faith and a prayer warrior who was passionate about the Lord. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.

She found great enjoyment from her grandchildren and in working with and communicating with people. She had a great zest for life, family and the Lord.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Nelson and Odene Mostellar Nelson; brothers: Ray Nelson and Mack Nelson; and sister, Rayma Nelson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Joy McCraw; daughter, Diane McCraw; grandchildren: Nicole Meeks and her husband, Brad Meeks; great-grandchildren: Shelby Odene Meeks and Logan Carter Meeks; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 2:30 p.m.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her friends and family, but rejoicing that she is home with the Lord and her family. Her prayers will continue to be part of our lives.
