Gary Austin of Bradley County’s Central Office said the bus was taking students to Walker Valley High School when it was struck by a vehicle.
According to Austin, 38 students were on the bus at the time. No one was injured. The driver of the small car which collided with the bus drove her car from the scene.
An earlier crash north of the scene had backed traffic up,overturned several times and clipped a utility pole.
The driver of the truck was treated at the scene, according to reports.
- An 11th Street woman reportedly spooked a car burglar after she found him sitting in her car.
According to a report filed by deputy David Harper of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Sharon Rymer said she asked the man why he was in her car and he fled the area on foot.
Rymer told Harper there was no property missing from her car.
Deputies patrolled the area but could not locate the suspect.
- Custom wheels and tires were taken from a Sunset Trail address.
According to a report filed by deputy Robert O’Daniel, Dewayne Bandy reported five Acura Legend 15-inch wheels and five Michelin tires were taken from an area of his property .
He discovered the tires and wheels missing Saturday, according to the report.
The wheels and tires were valued at over $2,000.
Investigation is continuing.
- Copper wire was taken from a central heat and air system at a Wendell Lane address.
Deputy Doug Boucher filed a report for Evelyn Chatfield.
According to his report, the wire was removed from the air system and main line to the meter.
The loss was estimated at $1,500.
