Lee’s volleyball team bounced back from its first SSAC conference loss of the year in style, dominating from start to finish in scoring the straight set victory over visiting Truett-McConnell College, 3-0 (25-7, 25-4, 25-10).
Paula Martins and Lauren Williams led the way with 10 kills each. Williams registered an impressive .692 attack percentage while Martins came in at .667. Nicole Sumida followed with nine kills and a .643 attack percentage.
The Lady Flames were also guided by Courtney Wilson. The senior led the way with 15 assists and six digs. Becky Bourne added six assists and an ace to help lead the Lady Flames to the victory.
Sophomore Kayln Helton had 8 kills and a .471 attack percentage provided the pop from the outside hitter position. Libby Peigen chipped in with five digs while Rachel Cunningham added three digs and three kills of her own.
For the Lady Bears, Emily Grooms and Liz Norton each had two kills in the loss. Jessica Porter registered 10 digs while Malaier Jordan led the team with five assists.
With the win the Lady Flames move to 10-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play. The loss drops Truett-McConnell to 0-6, three of the defeats coming to conference foes.
The Lady Flames will be in action on the road this weekend. Friday they battle SSAC opponent Southern Wesleyan at 7 p.m. On Saturday they stay in conference, as they head to Franklin Springs, Ga., to test Emmanuel at 1 p.m.
