Charles W. Carr, 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was the son of the late Anita Mae Gwenup Carr and Clarence Dell Carr. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Myrtle Wolcott Carr; brother, John Carr; and a sister, Velma Polk.
He was a builder/contractor and a sales rep for a chemical company and worked at a local truss company. He was a farmer at heart and owned a farm in Michigan. He loved gardening, fishing, camping, reading, singing and loved his church. He was a member of Ladd Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosina Carr, of Cleveland; son, Dr. Clarence Dell Carr and his wife, Sonya, of Gainesville, Ga.; stepsons: Benjamin Walter Schmidt and Ernstfried Schmidt, both of Cleveland; daughters: Jeri Anne Berry and her husband, Noel, of Knoxville, Merita Atherly Engen and her husband, Bruce, of Murphy, N.C., Jeannie Marcoux and her husband, Dr. Will Marcoux of Ontario, Canada; stepdaughter, Christel Boyko and her husband, Malcolm, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Misty Dittman, Monica Zill and her husband, Victor, Shelly Walls and her husband, Richard, Emily Weigle and her husband, Josh, Lindsey Carr, Taylor Carr, Heide Marcoux, Kayla Marcoux and Caleb Atherly; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Province of Berrin Springs, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Ladd Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church on Bates Pike with Pastor Peter Reed officiating.
Cremains will be interred in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Michael Hasel officiating.
Military honors will conclude the service.
