Friday night the Museum Center at Five Points held its 14th annual fundraising gala. “The Blue and the Gray” was the theme of the evening, commemorating the Civil War sesquicentennial. Some 220 museum supporters brought out their finery, many dressing in Civil War Era costumes. Longtime museum supporter Phil Newman was honored for his many contributions over the years. An exhibit of Civil War artifacts and memorabilia was on display for the evening and will continue to be exhibited through the end of the year. Guests enjoyed a dinner by Alshabibi Catering, and were entertained with a short performance from the new play “Pages of War” by local playwright Dan Buck. A live auction and silent auction rounded out the fundraising portion of the evening. More than $105,000 was raised to support the Museum Center’s exhibits and educational programs for the coming year.
