The Tennessee Christian Preparatory School Hawks traveled to Rhea County High School to play on the Eagles’ newly installed turf field Monday night. The Hawks were outnumbered. They fought hard and played well, but fell be a score so 38-6.
The play of the night game-film highlight was of Hawks kicker David Thompson who set up to receive the snap on a punt attempt from the Hawks’ 15-yard line. The snap flew high. Thompson recovered the ball in his own end zone, shook off a host of Eagles defenders, ran down the sideline out of coverage back to the 15 and punted the ball on the run to the 50-yard line.
"The Hawks didn’t come away with a win from Rhea County, but they are a great team to watch as they grow and improve with each play of the game," said TCPS athletics director Leslie Bennett.
The Hawks travel to Lookout Valley to play on Monday.
