A deputy spotted Scottie Lee Higgins outside of his mother’s residence Sept. 25 after a monthlong search.
Higgins was wanted for an outstanding charge of theft over $1,000, according to reports provided by Bob Gault, BCSO media and public relations coordinator.
Higgins allegedly is a key player in the thefts of batteries from businesses and heavy duty construction equipment.
Deputies and detectives responded to a call for assistance.
Higgins’ mother, Stormy Lee Merriman, 37, and a juvenile reportedly attempted to prevent the officers from apprehending Higgins. Merriman has two reported charges of assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
The 17-year-old juvenile was reportedly placed in the custody of the juvenile detention on related charges. Higgins was placed in custody.
