She taught at Cleveland Junior High School and Cleveland Middle School for 26 years, and was a member at Broad Street United Methodist Church. She grew up in Maryville and enjoyed a lifelong love of the Smoky Mountains.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Lowry Taylor and Barbara Anderson Taylor of Maryville; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Norman Dean.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas H. Dean and wife, Wendy, of Columbus, N.C., and Charles T. Dean and wife, Jennifer, of Lebanon; granddaughters: Mallory and Taylor Dean of Lebanon; brother, Bill Taylor and wife, Barbara, of Pigeon Forge; and sister, Susan Hitch of Maryville.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Randy Martin at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland.
