He retired from Rubbermaid after 21 years of service and had also worked at Duplan for many years. He was a devoted husband and grandfather.
He was the son of the late, Donald and Tilda Gaston of Old Fort. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann Gaston; and a son, Steve Gaston.
He is survived by his two sons: Alan Gaston and his wife, Diane, of Cleveland and Mark Gaston and his wife, Joy, of Charleston; grandchildren: Carrie Bryan and her husband, Matt, Jessica Russell and her husband, Matt, all of Cleveland, Casey Gaston of Cleveland and Bruce Gaston of Charleston; and great-grandchildren: Aiden Gaston, Savannah Gaston, Zain Russell and Gage Russell.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the North Ocoee Street Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Kenneth Isbell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
