A pair of seniors helped the Flames get on the board late in the opening half. Luke Cuthbert delivered a corner kick to Marvin Ochieng, who headed the ball into the back of the net.
Some three minutes later (33:19) another senior Sias Reyneke made it a 2-0 contest. Freshman Jonathan Perelman was credited with the assist. The final tally was registered by junior Josh Ball and it came with only 11 seconds remaining in the half. Newcomer Anthony Brayer claimed the assist.
The second half was scoreless until the Barons finally got ont he board when Jordan Torquato picked up a loose ball and blasted it into the back of the net.
The Flames were in complete control the majority of the contest attempting 20 shots and placing eight on goal. Lee’s defense held Brewton-Parker to only 12 shots and six were on target. Keeper Chase Kenny had five key saves for the winners. Cameron Hall picked up five saves for the Barons. Lee was awarded nine corner kicks and the Barons five.
“Congratulations to Chase (Kenny) for getting his first collegiate win in goal and Marv (Ochieng) scoring his first goal of the season,” said coach Paul Furey. “Hopefully this win gives us some momentum going into the homestretch of our conference play.”
The Flames will continue conference play on Saturday, hosting Emmanuel College at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Flames will open the day of action by entertaining Emmanuel’s women at 5 p.m.
