John H. “J.H.” Runyon, 82, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in the arms of his loving family.
He was of the Christian faith.
He was retired from DuPont after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in Korea.
He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, class of 1949.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn “Pete” Runyon; parents, Fate and Rachel Wilcox Runyon; brothers: Roy Lee Runyon, Paul Runyon and Fate Runyon, Jr.; and sisters: Mary Belle Wright and Marie Gray.
Survivors include his loving companion for 24 years, Wilba Dean Taylor of Cleveland; children and their spouses; Craig Runyon (Jan), Tammy Rice (Harlon) and Brent Runyon (Dawn), all of Cleveland; six grandchildren: Kiya Rice, Layla Mullin, Kyle Runyon, Laney Runyon, Drake Runyon and Chloe Runyon; six great-grandchildren; brother: Jimmy Runyon of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members, Kenny and Kathy Taylor of Kentucky, Brad and Shelley Taylor of North Carolina and Susan Holmes of Cleveland.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears and Pastor Tazz Reid officiating.
Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors. Kyle Runyon, Drake Runyon, Harlon Rice, Chris Mullin, Pete Van Dusen and Harold Blanton will serve as pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
