Louise Jewel Bowerman, 92, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1919, and was a lifelong resident of Decatur.
She professed her faith at an early age and was a faithful member of Burketts Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was “Mother of the Church.” She served as pianist for many years at Burketts Chapel and Hickory Flat Missionary until her health started failing. She kept praising, giving and receiving blessings to all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James U. Bowerman; parents, Samuel L. and Nona Robinson; five brothers: Elijah Robinson, Thaddeus Robinson, Calvin Robinson, R.J. Robinson and Gene Robinson; five sisters: Maggie Robinson, Carolyn Kelso, Mattie Dobson, Frankie Smith and Janie Fleming; and one grandchild, Christopher Shropshire.
Survivors include four children: James H (Forestine) Bowerman, Jewel (Claude) Goldston, Janet (Willis) Goldston and Leroy (Alinda) Bowerman, all of Decatur; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.
Interment will follow the service at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
