Gary Farlow is appointed VP of TEDC group

Gary Farlow, president and CEO of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, has been named vice president of the Tennessee Economic Development Council.

Farlow’s appointment was confirmed as TEDC announced its board of officers for the 2012-13 year, according to a press statement by the organization. The group’s new slate of officers was elected at the TEDC annual fall conference held recently in Chattanooga.

Farlow has worked in economic development for many years, serving positions in Greene and Blount counties, and now in Bradley County. He was also named the 2009 TEDC Fred Harris Professional of the Year.

The complete list of new officers includes president, Spencer Sessions, senior project manager for TVA; Farlow as vice president; secretary/treasurer, James Fenton, director of Cheatham County Economic and Community Development; and immediate past president, Mike Evans, vice president of the Clarksville/Montgomery County Economic and Community Development.

Others included Mike George, vice president of Business Development for Blaine Construction Corp., who was named TEDC East Tennessee Director; Rod Kirk, assistant vice president of the Clarksville/Montgomery County Economic Development Council who was named TEDC Middle Tennessee Representative; Mandy White, vice president of Research and Economic Development for the Jackson Chamber of Commerce who was named West Tennessee Representative; Nathan Ward, deputy director of the South Central Tennessee Development District who was named SEDC director; and Kingsley Brock, assistant commissioner of Business Development for the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development who was named TEDC state liaison.

TEDC is a statewide organization for both public and private sector professionals involved in economic development. TEDC provides professional development opportunities for its 340 members and works with state officials to maintain a strong business environment in Tennessee.
