Jessie Higdon Evans Kyle, 72 of Athens, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.

A native of Benton and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was a daughter of the late John and Easter Yates Higdon. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Evans.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Benton and was formerly employed with Pestaway Exterminators.

Survivors include her sons: Garland Evans and Ken Evans, both of Athens; daughter, Judy Shamblin of Riceville; brother, Dee Higdon of Farner; sisters: Reba Stone of Benton and Mary Ingram of Etowah; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. today, Oct. 19, 2012, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Salem Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be her nephews.
