Gennie Vee Herron, 76, a resident of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.

She was the daughter of the late Sara Josie Painter Verner and Sherman Mertin Verner.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, L. C. “Bully” Herron; her sisters: Matie Lou Anderson, Alice Marie Bowen and Helen G. Swafford; and her brothers: James Wiley, Sherman Junior Verner and Kermit Verner.

She worked more than 20 years in various Carpet Mills and she retired from Queen Carpets in Chatsworth, Ga. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was a blessing to all who knew her.

She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Sandra Thomason, Delane Herron, Linda Herron Crider, Kathy Moses and her husband Clayton, Edie Herron Stamper, Darrell Herron and his wife Therese and Doyle Herron; her grandchildren: Vickie Grant, Shawn Wells, Chris Scoggins, Janae Milen, Deavin Blansit, Dyana Herron, Dylan Herron, Cody Herron, Cyle Herron, Trevor Herron, Darla Herron, Braxton Stamper, Cedric Josey, Dexter Stamper, Chelsey Herron; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters: Hazel Swafford, Elsie Head, Jeanette Vineyard and Debra Long; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted today, Oct. 21, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. from the Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The body will lay in repose at the church from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. today before the service.

The Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
