Gerald Eugene Morris, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2012, at the family residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Bernice Morris; his first wife, Anna Katherine Morris; daughter, Susan Morris; and a sister, Deloris Parker.
He was a retired Iron Worker and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Widdie Morris; daughters: Jerri Ann Brown and Becky Cox and her husband, Rick, all of Fort Pierce, Fla.; stepdaughter, Patsy Smith of Charleston; son, Edward Morris of Roanoke, Va.; stepsons: Ronnie Prater and Roger Prater, both of Cleveland; grandchildren: Adam Cox, Dillon Cox, Cassie Cox, Katie Brown, Annie Brown, “Bug” Morris, Mindy Morris, Colton Morris and Peyton Morris; several great-grandchildren; brother, Duree Kocis and his wife, Audrey, of Chardon Ohio; one special daughter-in-law, Tisha Pack of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Baptist Church cemetery in LaFayette, Ga., with Danny Adcock, Ron Prater, Jimmy Meeks, Randy Pickle, Colten Morris, Dillon Cox and Chris Bishop serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
