The 36-hole event will feature 11 teams and several individual players. The action is slated to get under way at 9 a.m. on Monday.
The University of the Cumberlands, Tennessee Wesleyan, Warner University (Fla.), South Carolina-Beaufort, the College of Coastal Georgia, Bryan College, Georgetown College (Ky.), Union College (Ky.), SCAD-Atlanta, and Thomas University (Ga.) will join the Lady Flames in going after the team and medalist honors.
“We are very excited to be hosting this event,” said Lee golf coach John Maupin. “Last year we hosted our men's and women's events at the same time, but this year we have split them into separate events. This has allowed us to attract a larger and stronger field for both events.”
Maupin noted that the Shootout will involve four of the top 20 teams in the country, and eight of the top 40. “We are definitely going to need to play well in order to defend our home course,” he added
He also pointed out that the course is in fantastic shape.
“I think it will provide a stiff challenge for all the teams. Right now it is showing some cooler weather coming through, but we won't worry about that. We are just excited to showcase the town and golf course. We certainly welcome anyone that would like to come out and watch!”
