Waterville Community Elementary School recently hosted an artist tea with each grade level’s art work focused on leaders.

Kindergarten and CDC students focused on inventors of lollipops and life savers. First grade and CDC students focused on leaders with disabilities such as Helen Keller, Eunice Shriver (Special Olympics) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Third grade focused on Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King. Fourth grade focused on leaders in Tennessee history. Fifth grade focused on U.S. Military.

The top three winners from each grade group were announced at the October PTO Meeting. Artwork was displayed in the hallway for all to view followed by a reception for artists and parents. The children enjoyed learning about leaders and applying this through their art work.

The top winners in each grade were:

Kindergarten: first place: Cadence Wilson, second place: Dominic Pointon and third place: Jaylee Frerichs.

First grade: first: Dennis Pham, second: Logan Meeks and third: Emily Hyberger.

Second grade: first: Syleena Thunquist, second: Chandler McDaniel and third: Matt Dunn.

Third grade: first: Caleigh White, second: Kylee Caylor and third: Alexis Suits.

Fourth grade: first: Micayla Gray, second: Gabby Peacock and third place tie: Kameron Cheathum and Christina Keenum.

Fifth grade: first: Halie Watson, second: Gabrielle Bennett and third: Jaylee Centers and Liliya Pyatak.
