Caroline “Carolyn” Mitchell Peck, 65, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her residence.
She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. An accomplished seamstress and cook, she was also an active insurance agent with Horace Mann Insurance Company. Above all, she was a devoted mother and wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Leroy and Margaret Renfro Mitchell; brothers, Bobby Mitchell and Ronnie Mitchell; and an infant sister, Naomi Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Peck of Cleveland; her children: Shelley McCarter and husband, Roy, of Cleveland, Chris Norton of Athens, Andrea Bredwell and husband, Michael, of Decatur, John Peck and wife, Ashley, of Nashville, Jayme Peck of Knoxville, Jim Peck and wife, Robin, of Cleveland, Sherry Kirsche and husband, Steve, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kim Sylvester and husband, Chris, of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gail Finley and husband, Robert, of Athens; brother, Jerry Mitchell of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Mitchell officiating.
Interment will follow in Sewee Cemetery in McMinn County with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Goforth, Joshua Norton, Hunter Ballew, James Peck III, Adam Mitchell and Chris Duggan.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
She waged a courageous two-year battle with cancer, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Memorial Healthcare System Foundation, 2525 de Sales Avenue, Chattanooga TN 37404 in Memory of Carolyn Peck for Cancer Research or Cancer Support Services.
