Bradley County will have two drop-off locations to choose from for delivery of shoeboxes filled with toys, candy and hygiene items.
Shoes can be delivered to the Campbell Center this Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 18 from 2 to 3 p.m.; and Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Boxes can be dropped off at First Baptist Church this Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Each year Samaritan’s Purse delivers these boxes of hope to impoverished children around the world. This year the nonprofit hopes to deliver its 100 millionth shoebox.
Those packing shoeboxes are encouraged to include a letter or card to the child who will be receiving the gift. A donation of $7 is also requested to help cover the cost of shipping. If this donation is made online, one can track their box and find out which country it goes to.
According to OCC information, Samaritan’s Purse also works with local churches to provide discipleship classes for students who receive the shoeboxes. Each child also receives a copy of “The Greatest Journey” in their own language that tells the story of Jesus Christ.
