Bruin wrestlers capture 2-of-3

The Lake Forest Middle School Bruins wrestling team recently had its first match of the 2012-13 season at Dalton (Ga.) Middle School, coming home with a hard-fought victory after taking the match 42-37.

Pins came from Zack Meadows at 72 pounds, Trey Hicks at 78 pounds, T.J. Hicks at 86 pounds, Ethan Anderson at 100 pounds, Heath Townsend at 108 pounds, Cain Favaloro at 115 pounds and Billy Shalchick at 123 pounds.

The LFMS wrestlers also had two matches Thursday at McCallie Middle School with Sequatchie County Middle School there as well, and came away with a huge win over Sequatchie by a 79-0 margin with pins coming from Trey Hicks, T.J. Hicks, Shalchick and Jackson Holmes at 130 pounds. The Bruins also had two hard-fought decisions from Meadows and Austin Mathews at 140 pounds with the other weight classes forfeited by Sequatchie.

In the McCallie match, the Bruins were handed their first team loss of the young season, 48-36. Lake Forest got pins from Meadows, Trey Hicks, T.J. Hicks, Anderson, Townsend and Shalchick.

The Bruins take to the mat Tuesday at Baylor with junior varsity action beginning at 4:30 p.m. Varsity wrestling will go at 5:30.

The Lake Forest Middle School Bruin wrestling team competed at the Chattanooga Christian School Charger Clash tournament Saturday, putting 10 kids in the medal rounds.

Placing were Trey Hicks (first at 78 pounds), TJ Hicks (first at 86 pounds), Ian Marchese (second at 94 pounds), Dusty Brown (fourth at 94 pounds), Ethan Anderson (second at 100 pounds), Heath Townsend (second at 108 pounds), Will Kaylor (fourth at 108 pounds), Cain Favaloro (fourth at 115 pounds), Billy Shalchick (fourth at 123 pounds), and Caleb Adkins (fourth at 150 pounds).
