Charles L. “Charlie” Barbee, 59, a resident of Birchwood, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 16, 2012, at the family residence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Lee Barbee; his infant sister, Brenda Barbee; and his daughter-in-law, Janet Sims.
He was employed with Maytag for 20 years of service as a welder and press operator. He put his family first and he also loved the outdoors including camping, fishing and hunting.
He attended the Decatur Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Berleta “Bee” Barbee of Birchwood; his daughters: Delila Emerson, and Charlotte Franklin and her companion, Billy Whaley, all of Birchwood; son, Toby Barbee and wife, Rebecca, of Birchwood; his stepdaughter, Tammie Tankersley and her companion, Jeffery Gunter, of Birchwood; stepsons: Charles Sims Jr. and his wife, Dusty, Gregory Sims and his wife, Anita, all of Birchwood, and Mitchell Sims of Ooltewah; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; mother, Virginia Harden Barbee of Harrison; sisters: Carolyn Monds, Donna Parks, Patricia Harrison and Linda Geopertone; brothers: Randall Barbee and Chester Barbee and his wife, Angie, all of Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Frank Wright officiating.
Interment will follow in the Barbee-Sims Family Cemetery in Birchwood with Toby Barbee, Charles Sims Jr., Gregory Sims, Mitchell Sims, Billy Whaley and Jeffrey Gunter serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
