Richard “Dickie” Allen Houston, 67, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday night, Nov. 18, 2012, at his home surround by his loving family.

Dickie was born in Charleston, on Sept. 24, 1945, a son of the late Curtis and Lottie Houston.

He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Clingan Ridge Baptist Church.

He enjoyed anything associated with the great outdoors such as motorcycling, travel and fishing to name just a few. But above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce Scoggins Houston; two daughters: Melissa Houston Diamond and husband, Chip, and Paige Houston Leseman and husband, Kirk; two brothers: Gary Houston and wife, Juanita, and Randy Houston; granddaughters: Hannah Diamond and Adley Leseman, who Dickie was anxiously awaiting her birth next month; and numerous other extended family members, church family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church, 2412 Georgetown Road N.W. with Dr. Sammy Hooker and the Rev. James Vaughn officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Scott Houston, Todd Houston, Adam Houston, Daniel Haire, Bruce Rominger, and Jason Lunsford serving and pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
