Harding “H.G.” Gamble, 89, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He attended Washington Avenue Baptist Church and was a longtime barber in Cleveland. He joined Tennessee Enamel Co. in Cleveland on Oct. 16, 1939, and retired from Maytag Cooking Products 66 years later at the age of 82 ½ years. This is probably a record that will never be broken.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mattie Blackwell Gamble.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Gamble; son, John Gamble and wife, Pansy, all of Cleveland; grandsons: Shaw Gamble and Jackson Gamble; sisters: Florence Dorger of Covington, Ky., and Gladys Chambers of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 20, 2012, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating.

Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
