The Cleveland Creative Arts Guild will host its 32nd annual Christmas Open House event Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at 295 Inman St. The time-honored event will feature unique, festive creations by the finest local artist and craftsmen. The work of 25 exhibitors will be on display. As a gift, shoppers will be able to select from an array of pin cushion hats with a purchase at the show.

Artfully crafted by June Spratlin and constructed from colorful fabrics, there are no two exactly alike. Thelma Swafford will highlight the spirit of the holiday season with her talented contributions to the open house and her longtime association with the guild. Her creations are various and include whimsical angels, victorian Santas and well-dressed snow men, according to Dale Dotson, president of the Cleveland Creative Arts Guild.

With her expertise, Swafford repurposes antique quilts to become soft sculpture in the form of miniature stockings or delightful birds. Her imagination allows her to take burlap and transform the fabric into a decoration of a cat, wreath or birdhouse. There will be door prizes and refreshments.
