For the second year, the music ministries of First United Methodist and Wesley United Memorial Methodist churches will provide the “Messiah” Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m., in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church on North Ocoee.
Surrounded by a multitude of voices making a joyful noise in this timeless music, led by trained choirs and instruments and inspired by outstanding soloists, it is a musical event to treasure.
Whether you wish to bring a personal score and sing, use a score provided at the church, or simply sit, listen and absorb the power and beauty of this classic Christmas composition, you are invited to join the celebration.
Conductors Ron Brendel and Jim Burns will lead the 50-voice combined choirs in the Christmas portion of Handel’s magnificent work.
Congregants will enjoy solo portions performed by some of Southeast Tennessee’s premiere soloists — Brett Hyberger, bass; James Frost, tenor; Loralee Songer, mezzo-soprano; and Chery Brendel, coloratura soprano.
This is an informal sing-along, casual in dress and style. Admission is free. Offering plates will be available at the door upon exit to provide assistance to needy families.
