James “Jim” Frank Cardinal, 69, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Freeport, Ill., on July 18, 1943, to the late Frank and Elizabeth Stamler Cardinal.

He was a graduate of Aquin High School. He was retired from Maytag after 35 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and Air Guard.

Survivors include his daughter, Michele Sampson and husband, Darren, of Normal, Ill.; two grandchildren: Brett and Holly Sampson; and sisters: Carole Hoiberg and husband, Paul, of Winnebago, Ill., Joanne Cardinal of Freeport, Ill., and Julie Coates and husband, Brad, of Palm City, Fla.

It was his request to be cremated and to have his daughter and son-in-law spread his ashes up the Ocoee. There will be no service.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
