OOLTEWAH — After claiming the runner-up trophy at the Ooltewah Invitational over the weekend, the fourth-ranked Bradley Central wrestling team went back down Interstate 75 Tuesday evening for a dual meet victory over the Owls.

Dropping just three of the 14 weight classes, the Bears posted a 57-16 victory for their second win in as many dual meets on the young season.

Bradley will travel to Maryville Thursday for a three-way match with Heritage and Pigeon Forge before heading across Monteagle Mountain during the weekend for the Tullahoma Duals.

The Bears opened Tuesday meet with back-to-back victories at 138 and 145 as Caven Rogers scored a 15-6 major decision and Colter McConnell took an 8-3 decision, respectively.

After the hosts got on the board, but then had to forfeit a match, Eric Goins added five points to the Bradley total with a 17-2 technical fall at 170.

The Owls bounced back with back-to-back pins to close the gap to 20-18, but that would be the final Ooltewah win of the evenings.

Bradley closed out the match with pins from Zach McFarland (220), Jerry “JJ” Johnson (285), second-ranked Toribio Navarro (106) and fourth-ranked Dakota Ream (126), to go along with a couple of Owl forfeits. McFarland put his opponent’s shoulders to the mat in just 21 seconds, while Navarro used just 13 ticks off the clock and Ream needed only 25.

Taylor Kazy closed out the meet with a 6-1 decision to give the Bears their final tally.
