He was born in Cleveland, lived in Chattanooga for more than 20 years and for the last five years lived in New Tazewell.
He was a 1977 graduate of Cleveland High School and also graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a well-known All-American wrestler and was two-time state high school champion. He attended New Tazewell First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Allison Limbrick Howard, of New Tazewell; daughter, Haven Howard of Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Caroline Barkley of Decatur, Ga.; father, Jim Howard of Cleveland; mother, Theresa Howard of Cleveland; brother, Hank Howard and wife, Robyn, of Cleveland; sister, Fawn Yates and husband, Randy, of Clinton; niece and nephew, Calyn and Cole Howard, both of Cleveland; and aunts: Jimmie Ruth Maynor of Polk County and Diane Spencer of Ooltewah.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Gibson and Coach Duane Schriver officiating.
His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family requests memorials be made in Jeff’s name to the Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation with the funds being designated to the Cleveland High School Wrestling Program.
