He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew McNulty and Travis Bray. Callaway is a senior at Walker Valley High School and a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where he served as an acolyte and member of Episcopal Young Churchmen.
Callaway Bray is the 104th Eagle Scout from Troop 10, the oldest Troop in the Ocoee District.
His 10 years of scouting began in Cub Scout Pack 3136 and then he crossed over to Boy Scout 10. He has attended summer camps at Skymont Scout Reservation as well as two backpacking trips to Philmont Ranch in New Mexico.
A Scout must have 21 merit badges and complete an Eagle project to become an Eagle Scout. Callaway earned 23 merit badges and his project, with the help of family, friends and Troop 10 Scouts, was renovating the landscaping and adding a seating area to the Hiwassee River Heritage Center for the Charleston-Calhoun-Hiwassee Historical Society.
He is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and will continue scouting in Venture Crew 2010.
The Eagle Court of Honor for Callaway Bray was held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with a reception following the ceremony.
Participating in the ceremony with Scouts from Troop 10 were Father Joel Huffstetler, rector at St. Luke’s; Isaac Doty, youth minister at St. Luke’s; Dr. W.C. Stanbery, scoutmaster of Troop 10; Tony Logan, assistant scoutmaster of Troop 10; and Star Scout Michael Logan.
Callaway presented Mentor Pins to his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Callaway.
