Quinn Lewis Hixson, Sr., 89, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in a local health care facility.
He was a charter member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was a veteran of the United States 8th Army Air Corps, serving during World War II, and was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 81. He was retired from the United States Postal Service with 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Hixson; infant daughter, Anglea D. Hixson; parents, Luther Henry Hixson and Mary Fisher Hixson; grandsons: Brian Vallejo and Tanner Hixson; and eight siblings.
Survivors include his children: Quinn L. Hixson Jr. and wife, Cheryl, Princess Snyder and husband, Russell, all of Cleveland, and Tonia Whitt and husband, Jon, of Indialantic, Fla., Carla Hayward of Chattanooga and Luther (Zoot) Hixson of Charleston; grandchildren: Stacia Hixson Taylor, Mary Ann Sloan, Quinn Hixson III, Brittany Richmond, Rusty Snyder, Ryan Snyder, Jeremy Edwards, Emily Youngs, Shannon Lively, Tyler Hixson and Taylor Hixson; great-grandchildren: Leah, Jack, Katelyn, Chloe, Ethan, Christian, Rylin, Adin, Kaidence, Karrera, Ethyn, Jacob, Alexis and Riley.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today, Dec. 28, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
