Lee’s Jiménez makes international solo debut

Lee University graduate student and violist Ruben Marcelo Jiménez Aguilar debuted this fall as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the City of Asunción, Paraguay.

He was honored for his outstanding artistic work in the community on Sept. 21, 2012.

Jiménez was born in Paraguarí, Paraguay, in 1988.

He is a graduate of the Herminio Giménez Conservatory in Itá (Paraguay). He earned a bachelor of music from the School of Music of the Evangelical University of Paraguay and was distinguished by the Municipal Board of Paraguarí as Beloved Son of the City.

Jiménez is currently working on his master’s in music performance at Lee.

He has represented Paraguay in the Ibero-American Youth Orchestra in Pilas, Seville, and Madrid (Spain), Estonia, and Lisbon (Portugal).

Jiménez was selected to participate in the Youth Orchestra CAF in Caracas, Venezuela, and was a member of the Bicentennial Orchestra in Spain, Portugal and England. He has also participated in several national and international seminars on instrumental technique.
